I would love to see the city require new development to have green roofs, and produce 10% of their own power consumption. But I think saying if Europe is doing something then so should we is kind of irrellivant.

Those trash cans are ugly as sin. You'd have to cover them in ad's. I think the only benefit of them is having a decreased pick up schedule, you'd not be able to replace the current waste bins through with a few of these as you need frequency to promote usage.

All services to the home should be remotely controled by now. Though I wouldn't want that control to be dependant on Rogers or any of the other telecoms.

Free transit would be nice, but I'd be concerned with the quality of service if that ever happend.

Re: the video. I don't think changing the zoneing from residential to mixed use would serve to slow down the growth of the cities boundries. You'd still destroy farms and forests to build these type of communities and at a similar rate. It's also a little odd to think people believe that you'd have a school within 5 mins of you, in a town of 4,000 on a grid based layout, the high school was half an hour trip by car for most. In fact all throughout my schooling the nearest school wasn't in walking distance.

I also don't see being able to get the density you'd need to support businesses in the neighborhood unless you focused on residential towers and not individual homes which most seem to prefer.
